Portland Waterfront Blues Festival

Just wanted to put down a fews thought from this last weekend in Portland OR.

The Waterfront Blues Festival is one of the best festivals in the US, in my opinion. If you have never been, put it on your bucket list. Thank you to Peter Dammann, Cholo Willsin (thanks for the sticks), Jeri Davis-Paletta, Bill Phillips, and so many more, all the volunteers were so great !! Special shout out to Marilyn Stringer for supporting us blues musicians by showing us love through her great photos.

I fell in love with Portland 2 years ago when I performed in Ain't Nuthin' But The Blues at the Portland Center Stage. I was there for about 3 months doing 8 shows a week and LOVED every minute. The sights, smells, food, people, weirdness all makes Portland one of my favorite cities in the world.

So I was excited to spend 5 whole days over the July 4th weekend in this great city. It felt like i was home and I enjoyed every minute. I gave many interviews to various news/press, met some great new friends, hung with old friends(you all know who you are) and threw down with my unbelievable fellow band mates. Who could ask for more?

Portland I leave you with my heart full and my soul energized. I leave at 6am tomorrow for Tremblant and Norh Atlantic Blues Festival with The Mannish Boys. Here's to meeting new friends, maybe running into old friends and playing some more great music.

Peace,

Suga

New Web Site

Welcome to my new website. I hope you will come here often and keep in touch.

2014 is starting off with a bang. My calendar is filling up and I will be traveling to many new places around the world. I am so excited to get my band, Sugaray Rayford Band, out there to new places. My band is made up of awesome musicians and just plain ol' good people. Touring with them in France last November was such a joy. We return to France Feb 21st to Cholet for A Cupful of Blues.  We return to Europe in May to Ospel for the Moulin Blues Festival. One of the festivals I am really looking forward to is the Waterfront in Portland July 4th weekend. Such a great festival in a great city.

I also have some great dates coming up with The Mannish Boys this year, North Atlantic Blues Festival, Calgary Canada, Basel Switzerland and the Oct Blues Cruise!

My schedule starts getting busy early February by going into the studio to record The Mannish Boys new CD. Look out for this new CD later this year. As soon as I'm done in the studio I take off for Dubai where I will play at the Dubai Jazz Festival with Sax Gordon. Never been to Dubai before, another new adventure.

Well I just wanted to give you a glimpse into the coming months, look at my calendar for all my upcoming gigs. Thank you all for your support, I really appreciate all of you!
